Over the last few years, our Newark schools have continued to see declining enrollment, a decreasing budget and all the associated problems that come with not having enough money to pay for all the things that we need and/or want. I believe it is time to bring the community to the conversation about what it means to have our school district on a declining path: school ratings, test scores, staff turnover and the inevitable effect that it has on our kids and our city. I do believe that, together, we can work to find solutions to the drivers of the crisis affecting us so that we may return to the level of excellence that we have seen in the past and that our kids deserve.
